Being based in such a central location in Cardiff Bay makes getting to us extremely easy and the perfect starting point for any Cardiff Bay Boat Trip. Our easily findable, central starting point in the arena of Mermaid Quay, is the best starting point possible and you really feel as though you are right ‘at the centre of it all’ which makes for a very dramatic start to your trip. If you are travelling by public transport please ensure you check your journey details and service updates prior to travelling as we cannot be held responsible for delays to public services. However you arrive we will be there to greet you on the lower boardwalk. Please arrive at Cardiff Sea Safaris Departure Point by the stated time for your coastal experience. We have allowed enough time to prepare you for your voyage including the passage across Cardiff Bay to the Barrage Lock System.  If you are booked onto a Cardiff Sea Safaris Bay Blast please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled trip; we cannot be held responsible for any late arrivals.

Getting to us

By Rail

  • The closest rail station to Mermaid Quay is Cardiff Bay. Frequent rail services operate Monday to Saturdays with connections at Queen Street Station from the rest of the Valleys and Cardiff local routes network. By Bus

  • To get between Cardiff city centre and Cardiff Bay, just hop on the BayCar or Bendy Bus (no 6). This service runs 7 days a week, every 10 minutes during the day and every 15 minutes during the evening and weekends. The route runs anti-clockwise around Cardiff city centre and on down to the Bay where it stops outside the Doctor Who Experience and Wales Millennium Centre. For more details visit Cardiff Bus.

By Car

  • If you’re coming from outside Cardiff it’s easy to reach the Bay from the M4. Either leave at Junction 33 and follow the A4232 all the way to the Bay, or if you’re coming from the east you can also leave at Junction 29, take the 3rd exit off the A48 and follow the signs to Cardiff Bay. Once you’re there follow the signs to your nearest car park, please use CF10 5BZ as the postcode when using a Satnav.

By Boat

  • The ‘Aquabus’ and ‘Cardiff Boat’ both run a regular time tabled service between Cardiff city centre and Mermaid Quay with Aquabus and Cardiff Waterbus running between Mermaid Quay and the Barrage. If you have your own boat there is ample pay and display berthing on the visitor pontoons at Mermaid Quay and Sovereign Quay. To contact any of the other operators just click a link... By Bike

  • Cardiff’s flat landscape makes the journey between the city centre and the Bay perfect for bikes. You’ll find plenty of bike parking available outside the Wales Millennium Centre.


Cardiff Sea Safaris customers benefit from the close proximity of Mermaid Quay which hosts all the facilities you will need for your day including, disabled, male and female toilets alongside baby changing facilities as well as shops, cash point machines and car parking.

Left luggage and buggy area

Unfortunately, we not do have any secure left luggage facilities at Cardiff Sea Safaris, however, you can leave your belongings with our shore team who will keep them dry and have them ready for collection at the end of your experience.
